Art? Tools?　Dualism and dialectics?

美しさを”消費する”楽しみがアート作品ならば、便利さや機能を消費するのが道具でしょうか。

アートと道具、美しさと便利さ。しばしば対比される２つの概念は、著作権と特許・意匠権という２つの法律区分でも明確に分けられています。

一方で、庶民には手が出ない高価な工芸品、例えば茶碗や皿などの焼き物は、アート作品としてコレクションや投資目的で購入され、あるいはギャラリーや美術館に飾られています。

道具の名をかたりつつ本来の道具としては全く使用されることがありません。

使われるつもりがない”道具”。道具のふりをしているアート。

駄具道では、これをひっくり返して、普通に買える日常使う道具をアート作品（オブジェ）として売っています。

アート／道具、著作権／特許権の二元思考を問うような、ある種のパロディーかも知れません。

西洋哲学の基礎となっているデカルトの二元論（善/悪、心/身、人間/自然、白か/黒か）。

でもこれにとらわれ過ぎると、世界が狭くなり生きにくくなります。

どのようにすれば二元論にとらわれすぎないように出来るでしょうか？

仏教では２０００年以上前に一つの答えを出していて、世界を二元論的に見てしまうのは人間の認識力の偏りで、幻想であるとしています。

西洋でも古代ギリシャ哲学や、１９世紀にヘーゲルがまとめた弁証法などで、二元論を相対化して超えていくアイデアが語られました。

駄具道では、アート（オブジェ）と道具の対立を超える、あるいは融合する視点と、

さらに美しさ（アート）でもなく便利さ（道具）でもない第３の価値を密かに込めて提案したいと思っています。

If the pleasure of "consuming" beauty is an art piece, then is consuming convenience and functionality a tool?

Art and tools, beauty and convenience. These two concepts, which are often contrasted, are clearly divided into two legal categories: copyright and patent/design rights.

On the other hand, expensive crafts that ordinary people cannot afford, such as pottery like tea bowls and plates, are purchased as art pieces for collection or investment purposes, or displayed in galleries and museums. 

They are never used as tools in their original function.

They are "tools" with no intention of being used. Art that pretends to be a tool.

At Dagudou, we turn this upside down and sell ordinary, everyday tools that can be purchased as works of art (art objects).

It may be a kind of parody that questions the dualistic thinking of art/tools and copyright/patent rights.

Descartes' dualism (good/evil, mind/body, human/nature, white/black) is the foundation of Western philosophy.

But if we get too caught up in this, the world becomes smaller and harder to live in.

How can we avoid getting too caught up in dualism?

Buddhism gave an answer more than 2,000 years ago, saying that viewing the world dualistically is a bias in human perception and an illusion.

In the Western world, ideas for overcoming and relativizing dualism have been discussed in ancient Greek philosophy and in the dialectic formulated by Hegel in the 19th century.

In Dagudou, we would like to propose some viewpoints that go beyond or blend the opposition between art (objets d'art) and tools, and we secretly incorporate a third value that is neither beauty (art) nor practicality (tools).
